PICKY SICKY

“I would be instigating mayhem everywhere I go!”

The long awaited Harley Quinn series is here and she made sure to come with a bang! With so many different artist drawing for the issue and a story Deadpool would be jealous of, there’s only one thing we can expect, mayhem puddin’!

The Ups: There are so many things I enjoyed about this issue I don’t even know where to begin. Being a fan of Quinn since she first appeared in the Batman Animated Series, it is great to see her get her own series even though she is a major character in ‘Suicide Squad.’ Conner and Palmiotti write a story Deadpool would kill (even more than he normally does) to be in. Full of random scenarios changing along with each new artist, and complete destruction of the fourth wall. The best part of how the story is written is with each new page you see Harley trying to find a suitable artist for her book,  all while having conversations with each artist experimenting with her look and feel in their own style and having her threaten and sometimes kill them in the process. This for me is complete genius since each artist makes fun of themselves, filled with inside jokes and pokes at each other makes for such a hilarious read. The art is so diverse it’s hard to not find yourself excited to see who is taking up the next page. Each individual page is drawn by a completely different artist from the likes of Jim Lee , Becky Cloonan, Tony S. Daniel, Adam Hughes, and the one I enjoyed the most one of her creators Bruce Timm plus many many more. All the pages visuals were done so perfectly, you can tell that the entire art team put such great effort into each of their pages, making this an issue a dream for fans of the artwork and colors.

The Downs: If you do not like this issue, you are crazier than Quinn herself.

Overall: For me this was the perfect issue, amazing story telling full with good comedy and funny inside jokes. As a fan it’s great to see so many artists come to put together such a unique effort to help something great for the readers. Conner and Palmiotti are definitely great fits for this series and after reading this I’m more than excited to see what this series has in store. This is the must have issue of the week, go pick it up!
