Superman & Wonder Woman #2 Review

Superman-Wonder Woman #2 - Page 1

Writer: Charles Soule

Artist/Cover: Tony Daniel / Tony Daniel

Inker/Colorist: BATT & Sandu Florea / Tomeu Morey

GODS & MONSTERS

After the explosive start of issue 1, Wonder Woman and Superman continue their battle with Doomsday! Has he escaped from the Phantom zone? Wonder Woman seeks help from her God family. They don’t approve of Superman and the only way to convince them is through battle!

The Ups: Soule has a firm grasp on the Superman and Wonder Woman relationship. Most reader were afraid that the book would be focusing on their relationship. Soule gives you only a few moment of the intimate relationship that is well placed and not overwhelming. I am enjoying Soule’s Superman and Wonder Woman. You see a lot of the characteristics of the pre 52 Superman and Wonder Woman. A Superman that shows him in a caring light compare to his other titles and harden Wonder Woman. The showdown between Superman and Apollo was a fun read. Apollo dialogue had a condescending tone that sets Superman off. It was a great interaction. Daniel pencils are just getting better each issue. He is reaching the levels of  quality we got from his Batman run. His splash pages are astonishing. Morey’s colors are vibrant and he is a major reason why this book is just a visual feast!

The Downs: This issue was great! Very hard to find a flaw in this one.

Overall: Soule provides a familiar Superman and Wonder Woman for those pre 52 readers. This story is going great as it builds up to the return of one familiar enemy. The art team is on a superior level. The pencils and colors are breathtaking. If you’re looking for a dynamic and nostalgic feel to these two characters then Soule and Tony have you covered

  1. I absolutely love Superman/Wonder Woman. Among the comics that have been launched in 2013, Superman/Wonder Woman is the best one, in my opinion (along with a Dark Horse series called simply X).
