Superior Spider-Man #21 Review

Superior Spider-Man #21 (2014) - Page 1

Lethal Ladies

Writer: Dan Slott

Artist: Giuseppe Camuncoli

Inker/Colorist: John Dell/Antonio Fabela

Peter has been accused of stealing Dr Octvaius’s work in a meeting trying to start Parker Industries. All while that’s happening Stunner has come out of her coma to extract her revenge against Spider-Man for killing her lover Octvaius. But little does she know that Spider-Man is Otto! How will Spider-Man deal with his old love before she destroys everything he’s worked towards as Parker?!

The Ups: I was never really a fan of Spider-Man until I started reading Superior Spider-Man and I’m constantly enjoying every new issue. In my opinion, Slott has turned what many thought to be terrible idea (having Doc Oct and Peter switch bodies) and did what very little could probably do, turn a classic villain into an awesome and completely believable hero. With all the events happening in this story building towards the upcoming ‘Goblin Nation’ story arc it’s not hard to be excited! In a very funny ending where you see how Peter fixes the problem of the doctor accusing him of stealing Dr. Octvaius work shows how Slott ingeniously writes every issue of Superior Spider-Man. The art team as usual for the series keeps the drawing and coloring very simple but this style brings out more in each page than the large amount of detail seen in most books out these days. I also personally really love the new design for Spider-Man’s suit, it reminds me of his old Tony Stark armor mixed with a little of the original Ben Riley suit.

The Downs:  Nothing wrong with this issue.

Overall: Good laughs, great action, and Octvaius making fools of everyone, these are all the things you can expect from Superior Spider-Man. The ending has placed some interesting seeds for the upcoming ‘Goblin Nation’ story arc and I for one am extremely excited to see what’s next!
