THE WEDDING OF DEADPOOL

“You are handsome, Wade…in a way that just escapes me right now.”

Deadpool is known by a lot of nicknames but husband was never one of them. Now Deadpool can add a new nickname to his list as he invited all his friends to the most unexpected wedding ever.

The Ups: So the Wedding of Deadpool is finally here, and I really wanted to enjoyed and expected a whole lot more but the only thing I found myself enjoying was the artwork by Mike Hawthorne and Jordie Bellaire. Hawthorne does such a wonderful job visualizing the crazy comedy sequences and keeping everything together with all the silliness going on in the issue. Bellaire keeps the colors consistent and fresh with the amount of characters on the screen, all while making everyone stand out in their own right.

Deadpool #27 - Page 5The Downs: For all the hype this issue had, for me it fell really short and just was not the insane story it was being advertised to be. My first main problem is the fact that his wife is a character that was introduced in a digital only comic called ‘Deadpool: The Gaunlet”, and Duggan and Posehn did not explain her character or how they even met in the first place, leaving only the people who read the digital comic knowing who she is and why Dracula and Blade were involved. The story itself was very weak and it just came off so silly that it felt forced, most of the characters involved were too happy and very out of character even for a Deadpool comic. The overall wedding itself was nothing crazy nor out there as it was all hyped up to be and the small twist regarding the wedding makes the whole event pointless. The issue is 80 pages long, now while the main story itself is short, the rest of the comic is short stories showing his bachelor party (which was the only thing I enjoyed) and stories showing how he was married many times before and how they all failed all drawn by different artist which was a nice touch. These stories all fell really short and came off very cliche, they were more like crazy love stories and did nothing for the character or the idea of a big wedding.

Overall: This was very disappointing for me as this series is normal very entertaining and brings fresh ideas. I found myself forcing through the issue but could not enjoy anything about it, the changing artwork in the short stories helped the issue but the story was not what I hope it was going to be and what I felt it should of been. This could of been something much more entertaining and used some good comedy but just didn’t deliver at all in the end.
