Batman #29 Review

Batman V2 #29 - Page 1Writer: Scott Snyder

Artist: Greg Capullo

Inker/Colorist: Danny Miki/Fco Plascencia

ZERO YEAR: DARK CITY

“I’m going to answer his riddle.”

Batman has finally discover what the Riddler’s real plan is and still is steps behind stopping the destruction of Gotham. Finally allowing himself to seek help in James Gordon, Batman goes back to battle to put a stop to Dr. Death and the Riddler once and for all.

The Ups: After a month break, Synder brings us back into the action in full force. All throughout the issue the tension was very high and the excitement did not stop for one bit. From me the best part of the issue was the emotional exploration we saw for Batman and Gordon, we are reminded to how these two highly damaged men keep to their morals and what drove them to be the great heroes they both become. Capullo, Miki, and Plascencia go all out with the artwork in this issue and it’s such a wonderful thing to just stare at. The end of the issue just shows how great these artist are at their craft and the picture I will post below, which pays tribute to another great Batman story, made me fall in love all over again with the art.

Batman V2 #29 - Page 15The Downs: All good here.

Overall: Once again Synder and Capullo bring a well written story and all the great artwork to the dark knight. For me what I enjoyed the most is the story did not end in the manner we all can appreciate as this will lead into more great Batman issues in the months to come!
