FOREVER NUMB

After Owlman’s motive came to light, the Crime Syndicate members are each on the move. Trouble lurks in the team as each member has their own agenda!  Who is the mysterious figure under the hood? Is he the key to Earth’s survival or destruction!

Ups: Johns gives a mini origin issue which will tie up the remaining members of the Crime Syndicate. He still keeps some mystery in the story. Johns has come up with some disturbing backstory for these character that makes them more villainous and give you the thought that they are capable of more chaos. There is something to fear about these characters and that is a captivating quality to this event. The spotlight in this issue is given to Cyborg’s mechanical side Grid. Johns provides a better understanding into the character and his motives. It changed my perception of him. There is some developments with Super Woman that is intriguing and mysterious that will have an impact on the story soon. Johns writes a quiet issue but progresses the story along enough to raise curiosity. Ivan’s pencils are great. Lines are clear with dynamic panels. Prado’s inks are a remanant of the 90s that make some of the pages look Bagley like and that’s one of my favorite kind of styles. The color team came out in full force this issue with a bit darker tone and heavy colors that helps sets the mood of the issue.

Downs: The pacing of the issue was slow again. I feel these are the extra details that are not being told in Forever Evil because that book is the action portion of the event. It is dragging a little too long and I fear it might be filling up the time until Forever Evil closes in to the end. The cover of this issue is awesome unfortunately it has nothing to do with what occurs this issue. It actually works better for another book that came out today. It is very misleading.

OverallJohns issue was provided a lot of interesting information that sets a few character developments in motion that I am very excited for. The art was impressive and was my favorite issue to admire (since I read it twice in one sitting to enjoy the art) This book can use a little more action and pacing from Forever Evil but it is still a must read issue to fully gauge the event.
