AMBER

Previously on Infinity, The Avengers and the galactic forces have won the war on all planets but have failed to realize that Earth has been captured by Thanos. The Avengers with the help of the galactic forces will reclaim Earth but are they too late?

The Ups: Hickman brings the war to a close. He tied up all the remaining plots nicely while creating new ones and bridging the readers to the new series Inhumanity (Does help to read New Avengers #12). Hickman knows how to write a heroic dialogue that feels powerful. I felt the strong leadership from Captain America as he tells Captain Marvel “Look around Carol…It’s Earth–Home. It’ll do just fine” I clench my fists and almost yelled out “Avengers Assemble!” He has a way with words and emotions that drives the story so well, I just wished his Avengers title did this as well. Thanos portrayal is of a calm conquering villain that may come off arrogant which is the Thanos I have grown to love. Hickman does not just deliver great dialogue but he made sure this issue was action packed. It all came together visually with Cheung’s and Weaver’s art work. The action & angles of each panels were drawn out epically. So much was going on but never left you feeling overwhelmed. Neither artists lost any details in their art even with so much to draw. Ponsor colors are bright and colorful that are explosive. I really enjoyed the color pallet he brought to this issue. Kubert keeps the patriotic feel that the series brought through this issue’s cover.

The Downs: You can argue with me on this one: Nothing. It was all too good!

Overall: Hickman has shown us that the Avengers is more than just a team but something symbolic that goes beyond Earth. This series was truly an Avengers type event that should be a strong example of what a comic book event should be. Cheung and Weaver teamed up to bring a stunning work of art to an end. If I learned anything from this series is that Cheung and Weaver need books to work on monthly! A great read that should not be passed on.
