WANTED Part 5

“No Room for Robyn and her Merry Men”

Robyn comes face to face with Gisbourne in this final issue. The Merry men have gathered to help fight this evil but when the Gisbourne’s monster appear who is left standing?!

The Ups: Shard writes an interesting story in this issue. I have never read this series before but this last issue does a great job filling you in with the events without making you feel like you’re reading a long recap summary. Robyn’s character is compelling because she isn’t written like a hero who isn’t full of confident. This showcases a sense of humanity in the hero complex which is a realistic read. Heroes have fears and that’s something I like to see in comics more. Shard presents lots of plot developments with an ending that reminds us that the hero doesn’t always saves the day. The art by Watts and Sawyer does this book justice. The art is detailed with loose pencils which was very consistent through out. The colors are subtle which goes well with the environment and panel scenes.  This art team is great and I look forward to seeing more from them.

The Downs: I thought there was a lot of back and fourth dialogue between the monster and Robyn. The monster kept threatening to do things but didn’t until the end. I think he just liked to hear himself talk but it was a little dragging. Robyn facial expressions did not convey her feelings all the time. In one moment she is scared but her face looked more determined than scared. Wasn’t sure how I should have read that.

The Overall: Shard does great work with the storytelling. His plot development has me curious and wanting more. He is paired with a prominent art team of Watts and Sawyer. They bring a distinct visual presence that I want to see more of as well. This issue has an ending that you won’t see coming and that is reason enough to pick it up today. Can’t wait for the next volume!
