ITS ALL ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS

After the events of The Viltrumite War, the time for peace has come. Invincible is back on earth protecting the people. His father is now leader of the Viltrumite and the Guardians of the Globe is protecting the universe with Rex at the helm. What could go wrong?

The Ups: It is a brand new day in the Invincible universe. One of the things that makes this issue great is that it is a perfect jump on point to the series. If you ever wanted to get into this series and miss the first 104 issues, well this issue feels like a #1. This issue was heart warming and fun. We get to see the perspective of three relationships: Rex & Amanda, Nolan (Omni-man) & Deborah (Grayson), and Mark & Eve. Robert Kirkman wrote a wonderful story on the social aspect of heroes. What does a hero do when they are not saving the world? He is building a baby crib for his wife! Mark makes a funny intro as invincible. Only picture can describe this! Image

Kirkman crafts 3 dynamic relationships. One of them being Rex and Amanda. They had an all too familiar conversation about not listening to her while she talks, am I right guys? Sorry I could not resist. We also see some underlying issues that Kirkman mixes in this relaxing issue such as Rex’s reason for being unfocused with Amanda. We also see Nolan’s way of ruling. He makes a decision of peace that could be disastrous in the future. He also has this heart to heart moment with Mark that puts a smile on my face. The pencils and inks of Ryan Ottley and Cliff Rathburn are a visual treat with John Rauch’s color. The close up shot of the bad guy getting punch in the face was priceless and comedic. The scenes are bright and and top notch.

The Downs: I might be spending more money at the comic book shops on Wednesdays

The Overall: Kirkman is a master of his craft. He told several stories that were easy to follow. It was quite enjoyable. This book could not look any better without the current art team. Ryan and John feed your eyes fanatic imagery. A fantastic issue! Don’t miss out on this issue, you’ll regret it.
