HUMANITY BOMB: PART ONE

“I’m giving you a chance to save the world today! That makes me the best boss ever!”

Since his alter ego Hulk is far more well know than Bruce Banner, a lot of people forget he too is one of the most intelligent minds in the world. The Inhuman Crisis is spreading fast and a plan to stop the mist must be made and Bruce believes he’s the right person to stop it, if he’s allowed to that is.

The Ups: I normally prefer when solo books are just that with the title character only, but being that there is a big crossover event going on having some other heroes along for the ride feels right for the current story. The main thing that stands out to me is how Waid is currently writing Bruce, a extremely frustrated kid being picked on by the smarter kids in class, which is also making for some very funny dialogue. It’s like two completely different people from how Bruce was in the last story arc where he was more relaxed and enjoying pushing the Hulk around, but all the interactions between Bruce and Ironman make this complete change in personality work just fine. The Manns and Sepulveda do some really solid detailed artwork in this issue you can barely notice the transition between the two styles, my favorite scene was the flashback with Blackbolt, for one frame it just stood out from all the rest. Staples once again does wonders with his coloring especially with Ironman’s suit, but I do notice no matter what book he’s in and who is doing his artwork Ironman’s suit always seems to stand out (must be a inside Marvel thing.)

The Downs: All good here!

Overall: The fact the Bruce is being pushed into the spotlight more than the Hulk in this current arc is very exciting and leaves a lot of room to go as far as Waid can take this story. Solid artwork and story make this a tie-in you want to read.
