Green Lantern: New Guardians #24 Review

GREEN LANTERN NEW GUARDIANS #24 - Page 1

Lights Out: Part Three

Gods and Monsters

“They’re coming. The entities.”

W: Justin Jordan A: Brad Walker C: Wil Quintana

Oa has been destroyed and John Stewart survived his suicide mission to buy Hal Jordan and the corps time to escape. Now Kyle, Hal and Carol need to regroup and figure out where to go next in order to bring the fight back to Relic.

The Ups: After a slow start in the first issue this story arc is really picking up. A seemingly unstoppable villain, one corps wiped out, Oa completely destroyed and all the Green Lantern’s rings close to empty the stakes seem dire and Justin Jordan made all the tension feel real. This issue also showed why Kyle Rayner is my favorite of the Green Lantern, not only is he the only Lantern to control all the emotions and be a White Lantern but he does something even more amazing in this issue I seriously still wonder why Hal is still considered the strongest Lantern. As in every issue of this series the art is so wonderful to look at. Walker never slacks on detail from each individual character to the vast space backgrounds and detailed planet. Quintana compliments with great color work with the glowing aura and bright multicolored beams going all across the pages making each and every page a joy to stare at.

The Downs: Too much Hal in a book that belongs to Kyle (totally a Kyle Rayner fan boy.)

Overall: This story is turning out a lot better than I initially thought. Full of action and great art, it seems that the world of Green Lantern is in good hands after the Geoff Johns era. So pick this one up and continue to follow this story.
