Daredevil #1 Review

Daredevil #1 - Page 1Writer: Mark Waid

Artist: Chris Samnee

Colorist: Javier Rodriguez

Matt Murdock revealed to the entire world that he is the superhero, Daredevil the man without fear! After losing his license to practice law in the state of New York, he travels to another city where he is allowed to practice law and that’s the city of San Fransisco.

The Ups: This may be a reboot to the Daredevil series, but the magic that made the previous series special is in full effect. Waid gives new readers a brief look into the history of Daredevil and then jumps right into some great action. What I enjoyed the most is that with being in a new city, Daredevil was having a hard time getting used to his surroundings not being used to the environment, giving a better understanding to the fresh restart to the character. Samnee and Rodriguez as always are completely on their game with the artwork in this issue. Changing from New York City to San Fransisco did not stop the old school feel but it does come off a little bit brighter than a lot of the darker scenes in the previous story. This I felt also gave a breath of fresh air to the series and I’m excited to know what I’m going to see next.

Daredevil #1 - Page 11The Downs: All is good here.

Overall: Everything I loved about the last series is completely present in this one. The change of scenery is something I’m excited about and I can only hope Waid, Samnee, and Rodriguez have some great surprises in store for us for the future.
