JOURNEY INTO SCIENCE

“That’s got to be one well planned barrier system to fool his armor. Don’t tell him I said that.”

Bruce Banner and Tony Stark team up to tackle a ghost from their science past.

The Ups: Sometimes it’s very easy to forget the Bruce Banner is one of the most intelligent minds in the Marvel Universe since he is usually smashing everything around him as the Hulk, but Parker shows us how an intelligent mind can be more powerful than the Hulk himself. This issue has a lot of interaction between Banner and Stark which makes for a lot of interesting and humorous dialogue. There is a good balance between action and story which deals more into who Banner and Stark are as scientist instead of the usual world ending crisis. In the first few pages the artwork is a little shaky, especially with the close to blank faces of Bruce and Tony, but once the action picks up so does the artwork. Asrar does some great designs for the island, with a lot of interesting creatures for Hulk to smash. But I one thing I enjoyed the most was the cover, I mean come on, Hulk in full army gear with a machine gun with a background full of bomber planes, what’s not to love about that.

The Downs: I was sad it had to end, I would like to see Parker write for Hulk more in the future.

Overall: A great buddy cop issue with Hulk and Iron Man, had an great balance of story, humor, and action. Even though I was kind of hoping this issue tied into the current story, it’s a great stand alone story in it’s own right and definitely worth check out!
