MONSTER MASH

“We’ve all made the attempt, you’ll not survive. If I had a nickel.”

After trying to help a group of monsters from a mad rioting mob Daredevil is mortal wounded with a shotgun blast to the chest. The group of monsters took him to safety, but do they possess the means to save Daredevil so he can continue his mission?!

The Ups: I’m starting to think Waid and Samnee have a board full of random ideas and plot lines all posted on a dart board, throw darts at random and says “This is pretty out there. We’re going to make this work.” Because to me, there is no other way to explain how no matter what they write it makes complete sense and fits perfectly in the story. I truly enjoyed how the Monsters were written, all very intelligent, had conviction and all had purpose. And I’ve always appreciated how Waid and Samnee take into effect Daredevil’s blindness and make to add that in every aspect of the story and making perfect sense as to why certain things are harder for Daredevil and what can be used to his advantage. I enjoyed how Copland designed the monster like they were straight out of the old TV show ‘The Munsters” and other 70’s horror movies. Rodriguez alone adds to the eerie scenes with his gritty and dark coloring making the monster look more intimidating. I’m just constantly amazing with the amounts of characters and scenery told and drawn in Daredevil issues now, it really makes me wish a lot more series could be like this and work.

The Downs: All good here.

Overall: Waid and Samnee have done it again, and this is definitely the series I constantly look forward to every month. With Copland’s stellar artwork and the great writing its not hard to see why this series is so amazing. Honestly if you are not reading this series you are crazy and you should go and pick up these issues as soon as you can.
