Injustice - Gods Among Us - Year Two #1 - Page 1

Writer: Tom Taylor

Artist: Bruno Redondo

Inker/Colorist: Julien Hugonnard-Bert/David Lopez

CHAPTER ONE: THIRD WHEEL

“I just stopped the entire world from being eaten, Dinah. Good for you. Have a peanut.”

Green Arrow has become the first victim of Superman’s vengeful reign over the world. While some heroes are still on Superman’s side, more start to turn against him to get back for the ones they have lost.

The Ups: Taylor brings us back into the Injustice universe by showing us the more human side of Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Black Canary. The issue is mostly back story of the three hanging out after Hal had just saved the world, showing the connection between the three before long the death of Oliver. The focus of the story was Canary as we see the love she had for Oliver and how his death affected her. Taylor, as he does in Earth-2, reels you in with some great story telling back always makes sure he leaves you wanting more. Redondo, Hugonnard, and Lopez gives us some pretty sweet artwork that looks almost straight out of the video game and what I appreciated most is the very detailed emotions on each characters face, as this issue had no action but an emotional story to set up for what is to come.

The Downs: This issue was very much on the short side and I felt as a little more story could of been told here.

Overall: A solid start for the new year of Injustice and more of Superman being a jerk. With a great art team and story teller on board this new year looks like it will be just as intense as last.
