THE ASSOCIATED PRESS broke the news that Lex Luther will be joining the Justice League at the end of Forever Evil in Justice League #30. The cover shows the new core team comprised of Lex Luther, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Captain Marvel, Cyborg and Flash rogue Captain Cold.
Johns was asked about Luther’s role on the team:
“Is he going to lead the Justice League? It depends on whom you ask on the team. Certainly, he thinks he should,” said series writer Geoff Johns.
The fallout of Forever Evil leads to a change in how heroes and villains are seen as:
“the post-‘Forever Evil’ world with the lines being a little bit blurry between good and bad and seeing what kind of heroes it will take to not just protect the world, but defend the world.” Johns Continued.
Villains joining the team is going to shake up the DCU and might change the status of DC characters. The last time something like this happened was during Marvel’s Dark Reign with Norman Osborn and his Thunderbolts relaunching the Avengers team. The team dynamic will be tense and that excites me. Also excited to see Captain Cold coming along for the ride and what his motives are.. I look forward to this status quo change. But you can’t help wondering what happen to Superman and Flash?
Catch the rest of the interview on THE ASSOCIATED PRESS and Johns talks more in-depth about FOREVER EVIL, including the first appearance of a character and the ramifications that follow in JUSTICE LEAGUE with IGN, COMIC BOOK RESOURCES and NEWSARAMA
