INHUMANITY

“Hey, check it out. I’m not the one that got his ass kicked this time.”

The fight with Thanos is finally over but the damage the fight caused has just begun. With the fall of Attilan causing an outbreak that is changing normal humans into inhumans, the world is in chaos. Karnak might be the only one to help solve this crisis but can the Avengers get his help to begin with?!

The Ups: When it comes to a different kind of human in the Marvel Universe you think of mutants, but now Fraction is changing the direction and giving the inhumans the spotlight. After the events of ‘Infinity’ the kingdom of the inhumans has been destroyed and has caused a weapon that releases the dormant gene of the inhuman, all caused by the deceased Blackbolt. The large amount of story explaining the history behind the inhumans and what may have led Blackbolt to having such a terrible weapon is explained in such great detail and is so interesting to read. With all of Earth’s major players being in this issue I can still the Fraction has a lot of big plans for the inhumans and making them a bigger part of the Marvel Universe. For such a big issue (34 pages) I can understand the few changes between artist. Normally I am not a fan of the jumps between artist but this issue did the changes right. Each portion of the story the main, Infinity flashbacks and the explanation of the inhuman history all had distinct styles. Coipel, Morales and Martin bring the modern feel to the main story, Weaver and Silva bring the high quality and extremely detailed space adventure and Yu and Alanguilan draw the ancient history of the inhuman is drawn like paintings you would see on ancient walls in a tomb.

The Downs: All good here.

Overall: This issue had some of the most interesting story telling I’ve read in a while. It is nice to see something aside from mutants making a huge impact of the population and causing mass confusion. If the story telling and art can keep this pace this ‘Inhumanity’ story arc will be great!
